Paperplanecrash was formed in Slovenia when a few members of the neocrust band Melete decided to branch out into something stylistically different. The band took its name from a song by Rockville, CT’s Cable, signaling a shift away from crust intensity toward a more restrained and emotionally driven post-hardcore sound.

Their lifespan was brief, lasting roughly between 2011 and 2013. In that time, Paperplanecrash released a demo, a tour edition EP, and a three-way split with Czech band Remek and France’s Child Meadow, before quietly disbanding for unspecified reasons.

Musically, the band leaned into the emotional breadth of classic post-hardcore rather than sheer intensity in the vein of One Last Wish. Their sound often recalls first-wave post-hardcore as well as later European acts like Catena Collapse or Life At These Speeds. Shouted vocals sit atop relaxed, twinkly guitar lines, not as expressions of desperation, but of fatigue and resignation, giving the band a distinctly world-weary tone.

Paperplanecrash su nastali u Sloveniji kada je nekoliko članova neocrust benda Melete odlučilo da se okuša u nečemu stilski drugačijem. Ime benda preuzeto je iz pesme sastava Cable iz Rockvillea (Connecticut), što je već tada nagovestilo odmak od crust intenziteta ka suzdržanijem, emotivno vođenom post-hardcore zvuku.

Njihov vek trajanja bio je kratak, otprilike između 2011. i 2013. godine. U tom periodu Paperplanecrash su objavili demo, tour edition EP, kao i trostruki split sa češkim bendom Remek i francuskim Child Meadow, pre nego što su se tiho raspali iz nepoznatih razloga.

Muzički, bend se više oslanjao na emotivnu širinu klasičnog post-hardcorea nego na puku intenzivnost u stilu One Last Wish. Njihov zvuk često podseća na prvu talas post-hardcore bendova, ali i na kasnije evropske akte poput Catena Collapse ili Life At These Speeds. Vokalni ispadi smešteni su preko opuštenih, „twinkly“ gitarskih linija - ne kao izraz očaja, već umora i rezignacije, što bendu daje izrazito iscrpljen, svetski umoran ton.
