GIG REVIEW: IDIEDTHISFEBRUARY, GEAR, EXTERMINATING ANGEL, NABOD!

I suppose this is probably my very first gig review that i've ever done for this blog. I feel like it wouldn't hurt branching/expanding on other things a little other than do reviews on each band.

Now, i'd like to point out that i've been to only a few shows recently. And that is sad, because i really love going and seeing tons of bands that i haven't heard of yet that would eventually impress me so damn much.

Which is why i'm taking this opportunity to review this gig i've attended last friday.

Yep, that's right. A hardcore punk gig taking place in one of the 'splavs' (serbian for rafts) named Zappa Barka (not to confuse with Zappa Bar on the Kralj Petar street), just near the Usce Shopping Mall located in New Belgrade. The lineup consists of Novi Sad's Idiedthisfebruary (especially their first time in Belgrade), Belgrade's Nabod! and Budapest's Gear and Exterminating Angel. And it's been awhile since i took live pictures with my Canon camera (equipped with Meike fisheye lens), so this is also my opportunity to take some.

Idiedthisfebruary was the first to take the stage, starting with the riff that keeps us alarmed and prepared for the unrelenting chaos they have unleashed for us, leaving us completely stunned and paralyzed during the whole ordeal. The entire gig lasts for only 15 minutes, including their Jeromes Dream cover of "It's More Like A Message To You". Of course, afterwards, the iconic thing happens...

It's my pleasure to seeing this band for the first time as i wasn't always able to see them in Novi Sad. Now, i've already written about this band in here, so if you want, check it out here.

Then comes Gear, one of the two bands coming from Budapest finishing off their euro tour. This band, in particular, is straight up youth crew hardcore and pushes their mosh button from our wake and into our feeding frenzy for about 30ish minutes. It was both furious and sweet at the same time.

Up next is Exterminating Angel, more of the same as the previous band, just much more metallic. Definitely strikes harder and leaves us completely no room to breathe for 30 minutes no less. Maybe not so sweet and definitely a crushing experience that's totally worth it.

And finally, Nabod! from our very capital of Belgrade. Now, i have never heard of these guys before and it's a good thing that i haven't. You just might never know what comes in front of you from the stage.

These guys play fast hardcore or powerviolence and guess what? They're fucking rabid! The crowd moshed harder than before, so much harder that i even participated. So many crowdsurfing that i can't even count. I mean, just fucking look at this! I swear to god, these kids are fucking living for it.

These guys don't fuck around really and i mean it. Just some ill shit right here. And they definitely deserve some support, too!

All in all, this gig was one of the most exciting moments of my life. Not only did i take the opportunity to see them all, i was also able to meet up with everyone on there. If there's a chance that i'll see them again, i'm on it.

So, what are you waiting for? All these bands are awesome and totally deserve your support. Check their bandcamps, donate them if you want to, share them with your friends, spread a word about them! It'll keep this hardcore scene alive.

And of course, most importantly: TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE!
